Tour Physio & Performance
at Vanguard Golf Club

Official Golf Performance Partner

Tour Physio & Performance is a golf-specific training and performance company dedicated to helping golfers move better, feel better, and play their best for the long term.

They specialize in bridging the gap between the gym and the course: improving mobility, strength, speed, and durability so golfers can hit it farther, practice more, play pain free and reach their fullest potential on and off the course.

At Vanguard, Tour Physio & Performance will provide on-site golf performance assessments and small-group and 1:1 training for golfers of all levels, from competitive juniors to serious adult players.

James Ashcroft

James Ashcroft, DPT is the founder and owner of Tour Physio & Performance and a licensed physical therapist with over 12 years of clinical experience and 6 years as a business owner. He specializes in helping golfers and active adults move better, perform at a higher level, and resolve pain by addressing the true root causes, not just symptoms.

James has extensive experience treating low back and spinal conditions, as well as acute and chronic tendon injuries. His approach is holistic and individualized, considering not only the injury itself but also factors such as movement quality, training load, sleep, nutrition, and mental health to support long-term results.

He is TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) certified for over 12 years and is one of the few professionals in New England who combines advanced orthopedic training, strength and conditioning expertise, and golf-specific performance credentials, including Board Certification in Orthopedic Physical Therapy, CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), TPI Medical Level 2, and TPI Power Level 3. This unique blend allows James to assess the golfer’s body, swing, and performance demands as one integrated system.

James works with competitive junior and collegiate golfers, serious adult amateurs, and lifelong players who want to increase distance, improve consistency, and play without pain. His philosophy is straightforward: identify the physical factors limiting performance, build a targeted plan to address them, and integrate that plan seamlessly into the golfer’s life, training schedule, and tournament calendar, often in collaboration with the player’s coach.

James founded Tour Physio & Performance to move away from the high-volume, one-size-fits-all medical model and toward a more intentional, relationship-driven approach to care. Outside the clinic, he enjoys golf, fitness, and spending time with his family, which he views as central to his purpose of leading by example, both professionally and personally.
